Like the embryological node, KinNode is not a fixed identity. It is a temporary but vital organising space: a place where communication, movement and new directions become possible.

We are an intergenerational collective of adopted artists with different artistic practices, genders, bodies, histories, family situations and access needs. We understand these differences as forms of artistic knowledge.

Adoption, separation, identity and belonging can carry complex and embodied experiences. We will not demand personal disclosure from one another. Each person decides what they wish to share, how it may be used and when it must remain private. We commit to consent, confidentiality and clear boundaries.

• We believe that artistic collaboration begins with how we meet one another.
• We recognise that we may affect and sometimes trigger one another. We will approach these moments with attention and shared responsibility. Vulnerability will not be treated as artistic material without consent.
• We aim to transform difficult encounters into opportunities for understanding, while respecting every person’s right to pause, withdraw or change direction.
• We understand sustainability as the ability to create without exhausting people, relationships or resources. As ecological responsibility, economic transparency, fair working conditions, accessibility and care.
• We make room for pauses, reflection, uncertainty and change. Rest is part of the process. Time between meetings is part of the work.
• We believe that care is a shared artistic method.
• We oppose racism, sexism, transphobia, ableism, age discrimination and other forms of exclusion.
• We aim to support our differences and speak with individual voices.
• We aim to create a shared structure in which distinct voices can coexist, resonate and transform one another.
• We gather to listen, support and challenge one another.
• We gather to develop artistic methods that can be felt in our own bodies and in the bodies of those who encounter our work.
• We commit to transparent finances, fair artist fees and an equitable distribution of responsibility.
• We acknowledge both paid contributions and contributions made through time, space, equipment or other resources. No individual should silently carry the administrative, emotional or practical burden of the collective.
